AIDS Poems (9) & (10)

(9) FROM AIDS YOU STAY CLEAR

To AIDS as disease you must never go near
It’s not just an AIDS question of being in fear
AIDS is not a burden you alone can easily bear
So the best advice is from AIDS you stay clear

So heed the advice on AIDS and be sure you hear
What needs to be done to be free from AIDS’s liar
AIDS is not an experience you really want that’s dear
So the best device is from AIDS you drive away fast gear

Do care that you and others learn that AIDS is no pear
From AIDS you stay away through doors front and rear
Free yourself from AIDS which like a hot rod will sear
Ensure that this AIDS message does not fall on deaf ears

Go far away from AIDS so that there’re no AIDS’s tears
Whenever possible reminders of AIDS in your mind wear
Whenever dangers of AIDS arise you know how to well spear
Keep yourself and other loved ones free from AIDS every year

(10) NO FUN WITH AIDS

AIDS is no fun
For anyone under the sun

Away from AIDS you must run
So that you may eat bread rather than bun

AIDS can cause more damage than a mere gun
And AIDS is no respecter of any man or even nun

So take this message seriously though it may appear as a pun

Don’t just say, “I won’t get AIDS myself.”
But rather say, “I want the whole world to be free from AIDS!”

Footnote: All AIDS poems, first written in Kuala Lumpur 2003, are targeted at school/college/university students and young adults from all over the world in support of UNDP’s worldwide effort to stamp AIDS’s tide.

They are also dedicated to all those engaged in the local battle or global war to fight against the further spread of HIV/AIDS.
