AIDS Poems (7) & (8)

(7) DANGERS OF AIDS

AIDS not only just kill the patient eventually
But also causes endless suffering in the family
AIDS is not just a figure to count mathematically
It can explode and destroy the whole nation spirally

AIDS may infect some and yet affect all eventually
So don’t try to be complacent and not bother about it totally
AIDS can raise its ugly head without any warning absolutely
It can destroy the patient’s body, mind and soul oh so completely

(8) DON’T CRAVE FOR AIDS

Dangerous drugs and AIDS you must not crave
Unless you want to go very early to your own grave
Better for you to stand upright and dare to be brave
So that to such drugs and AIDS you’ll never be a slave

Be free from AIDS and don’t live in its dark cave
Be mindful of what you previously took and gave
Be careful of what you really want to openly rave
Be prayerful over the road you want to gladly pave

AIDS is not something everybody really wants to have
Please join us in all precious lives worldwide to save
To send out AIDS’s danger signals from every nave
Until it’s final farewell to AIDS we can all happily wave

Don’t just say, “I won’t get AIDS myself.”
But rather say, “I want the whole world to be free from AIDS!”

Footnote: All AIDS poems, first written in Kuala Lumpur 2003, are targeted at school/college/university students and young adults from all over the world in support of UNDP’s worldwide effort to stamp AIDS’s tide.
They are also dedicated to all those engaged in the local battle or global war to fight against the further spread of HIV/AIDS.
